Going to Pot

May 9, 2008

whitehouse no potBy Lee Vander Boegh -

The White House is at it again, staying up all hours of the night solving mind-boggling problems that perpetually plague mankind. The most recent epiphany finally answers the Rubik’s cube of social sciences: Are depression, teens and marijuana a dangerous mix?

According to the White House, yes, they are. Imagine that.

According to an Associated Press story picked up by the Idaho Statesman (http://www.idahostatesman.com/aptopstories/story/375112.html), the White House will release the full report later today. Among the findings: “Smoking marijuana can lead to more serious problems.”

No kidding? Who would have thought drugs could lead to more serious problems?! Especially when used by already depressed teenagers. If I had to guess, I’d say these problems might include: Increased laziness, perpetual body odor, saying “Hey, man” all the time, getting arrested with Matthew McConaughey, playing bongo drums, laughing at colors, not wearing shoes and Leprosy.
